Editorial policy
Our standards, and how to ask for a correction or make a complaint.
Our standards
- Accuracy. Every article is checked against its sources before it is published, and every source is linked.
- Our own words. We summarise in our own words and quote only short passages.
- No invented quotes or facts. If a source doesn't say it, we don't print it.
- No medical advice. We report on health and research. We don't tell anyone what treatment to have.
- Privacy. We don't name or expose private individuals. Public figures acting in public may be named.
- Neuro-affirming. We use identity-first language and avoid deficit language. Stories about "cures", ABA or an "autism epidemic" are reported critically, never promoted.
- Politics. We report on policy and how it affects neurodivergent people. We don't campaign for any party.
- Transparency about AI. Articles are written and fact-checked with AI from named, linked sources. Stories on sensitive topics are approved by David before publishing. How we work.
- Our own content. Pieces about NeuroHub's own posts, podcasts and videos are labelled "From NeuroHub".
We follow the Editors' Code of Practice voluntarily. We are not a member of IPSO (the Independent Press Standards Organisation), and IPSO does not regulate us.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we will put it right quickly and say so. A correction goes at the end of the article, with the date, explaining what changed. We don't quietly rewrite what we published.
To ask for a correction, email enquiries@neurohubcommunity.org. Please include the article's address and what you think is wrong. A link to evidence helps if you have one. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
Complaints
To complain about an article, or about how we behaved, email enquiries@neurohubcommunity.org with "Complaint" in the subject. Tell us which article, which part of the Editors' Code or this policy you think we broke, and what you would like us to do.
- We will confirm we have your complaint within 5 working days.
- The editor, David Gray, will look into it and reply in writing, normally within 20 working days.
- If we agree we got it wrong, we will correct or remove the article and tell you what we did.
If you are named in an article and are worried about your privacy or safety, say so in the subject line and we will deal with it first.
